Dr. Matthew Sandberg integrates each implant procedure with our 3D imaging and CEREC technologies, so patients leave our office with better and more effective results. Firefly Family Dentistry works with independent dental professions to complete each treatment safely and quickly. Whether you need to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth or need implant-supported bridges, dental implants in Wauwatosa , Wisconsin, provided by our dentist can work for you.
Dental implants are designed to replace your teeth in the most ideal way possible. Specifically, the most ideal tooth replacement is one that both functions and looks like a natural tooth. A natural tooth has two key parts: the crown and the root. Subsequently, a dental implant also has these two parts.
The post of a dental implant takes the place of the tooth root and is made of titanium, which is accepted very readily by the body and should not cause any problems for the surrounding oral tissues. The implant post is first placed into the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth. The post then fuses with the jawbone for a strong foundation, much like the original tooth root. Successful fusion usually takes a few months; we will schedule follow-up appointments to check on the progress of your implant post fusion.
Once the post has successfully fused with the jawbone and is determined to be stable, our dentist will install the second part of the dental implant, which is the part that will be visible in your mouth. As such, it will be carefully crafted to match the aesthetics of your smile and face so that your appearance is as natural as possible. This restoration may be a crown, bridge or set of dentures depending on what you and our dentist have decided together you need. The restoration will be placed on top of the post and fitted for comfort and function.
A dental implant can allow you to eat and smile again without worry! It is strong enough for all of your favorite foods, and with proper dental care both at home and in our office, it can last many years or even the rest of your life. Please schedule a consultation if you would like to learn more!
